Does insurance cover auto glass repair in New York?
Usually, yes. Glass normally runs through the comprehensive side of your policy rather than the collision side, and which side it lands on decides what you pay.

New York law puts two things on your side here. The second rule is the one insurers rarely lead with. Under section 2610, an insurer writing collision or comprehensive coverage cannot require that your car be repaired at a particular place or shop, and is not supposed to recommend one unless you ask. A glass network is a suggestion. Where the auto glass replacement actually happens is your call, not theirs.

Lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise and traffic-sign reading mostly run off one camera mounted up behind the mirror. An auto glass replacement moves that camera, and a camera aimed a fraction off is a car making safety decisions on bad information. Calibration is the procedure that tells it where straight ahead actually is, static or dynamic depending on what the manufacturer specifies.
